PHOTO: Pres. Jonathan with Alleged Boko Haram Sponsor Modu Sheriff in Anti-Terrorism Meeting in Chad
President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday travelled to Ndjamena, the capital of the Chad where he met with his Chadian counterpart, Idriss Deby.
The meeting was in furtherance of Government’s efforts to forge a stronger alliance with Nigeria’s neighbours in the battle against the Boko Haram insurgents.
Before the departure of Jonathan to Chad, presidential media aide, Rueben Abati, stated in a statement that the president will be accompanied by the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki; Minister of Communication Technology, Omobola Johnson; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Nurudeen Mohammed; and the Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency, Sheidu Mohammed.
But when Abati tweeted photographs of Jonathan’s meeting with his counterpart, lo and behold, former Borno State governor Ali Modu Sheriff whom few days ago was accused of sponsoring Boko Haram by Australian Negotiator Stephen Davis was sitting right in their midst.
Why it is understandable that Davis’ allegation has not been proven, it beats all logic to see someone who is yet to clear his name seated in a meeting where solution to insurgency is being discussed.
