PHOTO: Gov Kwankwaso Uses Broom To Sweep Away Jonathan At Venue Of PDP Rally In Kano
Few hours after President Goodluck Jonathan visited Kano State and held the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally for the North –West zone, Kano State governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso led other members of his cabinet to sweep away the president and his team of campaigners in the state.
The governor made a comic out of the President’s visit by sweeping the venue of the rally where the president and other PDP faithful had gathered.
The unity rally was attended by PDP chieftains including national chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, Vice President Namadi Sambo, Senate President David Mark, governors of Akwa Ibom, Katsina, Kebbi as well as ministers.
Kwankwaso, who outrightly snubbed Jonathan and his entourage had earlier asserted he regretted voting for President Jonathan during the 2011 presidential election, saying that the President has failed the whole nation.
“I regretted voting for President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 Presidential Election, as he has done nothing to move the nation forward. Only a few people are enjoying in Nigeria at the expense of the generality of the citizenry,” he said.
Earlier at the rally, President Jonathan accused Kwankwaso of embezzling allowances meant for Kano delegates during the 2011 PDP presidential primary and refused to vote for him.
Jonathan recalled that during the presidential primaries at the Eagles Square, Kwankwaso left when it became clear that he had won.
He said, “I regret voting President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011, as he has done nothing to move the nation forward”.
Reacting to Kwankwaso’s comment, Jonathan said the Kano governor made several efforts to frustrate his election as President by ‘eating’ the allowances meant for delegates from Kano state so that they would not vote for him.
He said, “I read in the paper that the Governor of Kano state said he regretted voting for me. Let me tell my good people of Kano that Kwankwaso did not vote for me and the Vice President.
“We accommodate a lot because we know so much but we talk less.
“When it was clear at Eagles square that I will emerge as the candidate, Kwankwaso left the venue.
“If Kwankwaso had voted for me, he would have stayed to celebrate with me with the other governors.
“The little money that my campaign office provided, Kwakwanso refused to give to the delegates.
“Even for the main election, the little money my campaign office sent to Kano state to facilitate the movement of people, Kwankwaso refused to give the money to anybody.
“How can Kwankwaso tell people that he voted for me?” he asked rhetorically.
