Percentage Payment To LG Workers Wicked – Governor Yahaya Bello
The governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya
Bello has reiterated his administration’s
commitment to improve the welfare of
civil servants in the state and those at the
local government level.
The governor stated this through his Chief
of Staff, Mr Edward David Onoja during an
emergency meeting with the leaders of
organized labor; National Union Of Local
Government Employees (NULGE), the
Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), the
Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the
leadership of the Association of Local
Government of Nigeria (ALGON) at the
office of the Chief of Staff, Government
House, Lokoja.
The governor reacted to the percentage
of salary paid to local government
workers for the month of December in
which some council workers collected as
low as 15% of their total salaries describing the situation as wicked and
senseless, the governor said it’s totally
unimaginable to pay N3,000 to a man
who is on a basic salary of N20,000.
While urging the council chairmen not to
play politics with workers salary, Alhaji
Yahaya Bello charged the leadership of
organized Labour to cooperate with
the council chairmen to expunge ghost
workers in the civil service system for the
actual and genuine workers to enjoy their
due benefits.
In their separate response, the leaders of
the organized Labour pledged their
supports to the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello while assuring him of their
maximum cooperation.
