PDP’s Violent Protest: Dino, Murray-Bruce Shun Police Invitation
Senators Dino Melaye and Ben Murray-Bruce have failed to honour the invitation by the police over their alleged role in the protest by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja.
The two lawmakers were to report to the Commissioner of Police Federal Capital Territory command at 10am on Monday for investigation according to a statement from the force headquarters.
The police said preliminary investigations carried out by the police, into Friday’s protest incident revealed that senators Dino Melaye and Ben Murray-Bruce, who were captured on camera for their active involvement in the disturbance of public peace and public safety, unlawful blockade of Shehu Shagari way, causing damage to police equipment and government properties; have case to answer.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Moshood Jimoh said however that investigation was ongoing to determine the level of involvement of other individuals who were at the scene of the incident.
Jimoh had confirmed that invitation letters had been sent to senators Dino Melaye and ben Murray-Bruce to report to the commissioner of police, federal capital territory (FCT) command.
According to the police, the federal capital territory (FCT) police command has the statutory jurisdiction to investigate the matter.
