PDP Crisis: President Jonathan Disappointed with the Conduct of Bamanga Tukur
There are feelers in the presidency that President Goodluck Jonathan is unhappy with the PDP’s national chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, over certain actions he has taken as it concerns the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic party.
An impeccable source in the presidency said the President Jonathan was particularly miffed by the suspension of four leaders of the splinter group, the “new PDP” by the party’s hierarchy.
According to the source, the announcement of the suspension of Abubakar Kawu Baraje, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Sam Sam Jaja and Ibrahim Kazaure — chairman, secretary, deputy chairman and national vice chairman respectively of the “new PDP” — did not get the approval of the president; he reportedly got to know of the development like any other member.
“I can tell you that the chairman’s action was really disappointing to the president because he had already ordered the man’s reinstatement so as to create room for proper reconciliation from that point, but what are we seeing now?
“Even though the president is not happy with the chairman about the suspension of Oyinlola in particular because of the judicial leg to it, he can’t reverse it because of the implications it may carry.”
It is painful that just as the opportunity to fully reconcile came last week, the national chairman of the party (PDP) bungled it without recourse to anyone, not even the president who also got to know of Oyinlola’s suspension like others.
