“PDP Can No Longer Run To The Presidential Villa For Cash, So We Have To Sack Staff” – Sen. Akpabio
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday explained how the controversial N12 billion it realised from the sale of nominations form in the 2015 general elections was expended.
The staff of the party had accused the party’s leadership of squandering the money after they were informed of the plan to sack some of them and have the salaries of those to be retained slashed by 50%.
But why the national chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, tried to explained the expenditure from the money realised, which he put at a little over N11 billion, Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, gave reasons why the sack of some PDP staff was necessary.
who led the PDP Senate caucus to the briefing, explained why the party must reduce the number of the secretariat staff.
According to Akpabio, “We can no longer run to the Villa for cash so we don’t have the wherewithal to maintain that large number of secretariat staff. The workers should understand that they are in a master-servant relationship in which you cannot force an unwilling master to keep a recalcitrant servant. We are definitely going to downsize.”
