PDP Admits: We are Behind the Plot to Impeach Nyako, Deputy
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Adamawa State Chapter, has admitted pulling the strings behind the scenes in a bid to get Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State and his Deputy Bala James Ngilari, impeached.
In a chat with journalists in Yola, the state secretary of the PDP, Alhaji A.T Shehu, said Nyako’s maladministration of the state has made his impeachment inevitable.
“People are disenchanted by the bad leadership being promoted by Nyako’s administration. And as patriotic citizens we will not fold our arms to watch few individuals running the state aground which informed our action to initiate the impeachment moves”, said Alhaji Shehu.
He said the Governor had nothing to show for his seven-year stewardship in the State thus far and ran the State with his family members and cronies.
“The roads are un-motorable, the taps are dry, the schools are without teaching facilities while they run the system as family and friends”.
The State’s account has since been frozen with Nyako and his aides begging for mercy. But Shehu said freezing the accounts of the State was just about right in the circumstances.
“If there is anything more than freezing the account and the impeachment, it should be meted to Nyako and his deputy. In fact, the move is coming a little late as the maladministration being entrenched by Governor Nyako has been in the offing for a very long time,’’ said Shehu.
The lawmakers are toying with the option of using the courts as a last ditch option after failing to serve Nyako his impeachment notice, owing to series of cat and mouse games. The clerk of the House who was directed to serve the Governor with his impeachment notice hasn’t been able to do so.
