PDM Leaders Divided Over Alliance Option With APC Or PDP
The party leaders of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) appear to be split over which political party to align itself with ahead of the 2015 general election.
Since it is unlikely that the PDM, which was formed last year, may not field a presidential candidate in the 2015 election, major leaders in the party have not agreed on whether to align with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The divergent views within the PDM along lines of APC and PDP, became more clear following the defection of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who until he joined the APC from the PDP was a strong backer of the PDM.
Atiku, alongside the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman, Chief Tony Anenih, and Prince Tonye Princewill, were part of the founding members of the PDM under the leadership of late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua.
However sources within the PDM said that already there are jostling for the soul of the party, which they say is emerging as a beautiful bride to be courted ahead of 2015 presidential election.
