Patience Jonathan, Kema Chikwe Says No Vacancy In Aso Rock Come 2015
The continues insistence by President Jonathan that he is not bothered about 2015 got a punch today as his Patience and national women leader of the PDP, Dr Mrs. Kema Chikwe today declared that there is no vacancy in the Aso rock presidential villa in 2015.
Notwithstanding the agreement allegedly signed by the President with governors of the ruling PDP to spend only one term in office which in turn necessitated their support toenable him clinch the party ticket in 2011, both women said Mr Jonathan will not only contest the 2015 election but will defeat the “political conspiracy” of opposition parties coming under the umbrella of All Progressives Congress, APC.
Both women made the declarations in Abuja today during the presentation of the “PDP Women-in-Power 2013 Calender.” Speaking first at the event, Chikwe stated that women in PDP believe that President Jonathan would increase their slots in the federal cabinet and the National Assembly to 50 percent if re-elected in 2015.
According to her: “We need to start moving fast to prepare women for future elections. Until we elect 35 percent or more of women in the legislature, the impact of our progress will not be complete. We know of course that next dispensation will attract possibly PDP female governors and more deputy governors. We are even more confident that when President Goodluck Jonathan returns in 2015, women would be talking about fifty percent no longer 35 percent. As we give him unequivocal, undiluted, unreserved and unlimited support and as we march with him to 2015, PDP women will reach the promised land.”
While boasting that Mr Jonathan has done a lot to favour women, Chikwe stated that: ” the most remarkable victory for us PDP women in particular and all Nigerian women in general is not that Mr. President has appointed women to the most challenging Ministries such as Ministry of Education, Petroleum, Finance, Water Resources, Environment and Defence, but that he has appointed a woman as the co-ordinating Minister, he has virtually dedicated the 2013 budget to women.
“Mr. President, the dedication of 35 percent of all construction contracts to women is really mind blowing to say the least. President Jonathan’s benevolence to women is unbelievably phenomenal. His generosity to women cuts across parties. In fact, any Nigerian woman who doesn’t support Jonathan must have a special problem. Tell him that PDP women in every nooks and crannies, wherever, whether they are young or old, tall or short, beautiful or ugly, we are chanting to Nigerians, ‘All we are saying, give us Goodluck’. My aim is to support the transformation agenda of Mr. President through women empowerment at the grassroots.”
In her own declaration, Mrs Patience Jonathan praised the PDP Woman Leader for her initiative in mobilizing women to support Jonathan’s ambition. She said with this kind of support for her husband, there is no cause to fear the coming together of the opposition parties ahead of the 2015 elections.
In her words: ” Nigerian women, especially women of PDP, this is the biggest party, no party can beat us. Let them try, what we talk, we do it. PDP isn’t shaken. We aren’t afraid, let one hundred parties come together, they cannot defeat us. Once you do that, nothing can shake us. We are more in number than them. Let us speak with one voice.”
