The Parable of Humans in a Veterinary Clinic, By Rabiu Usman
Communication is one of the preamble to problem solving. Doctors communicates with their patients to aid them profer solution, even those in critical state or emergency also have their relatives quizzed as regard what transpired. The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), aides and other media outlets, (emphasis on government owned) does not communicate with Nigerians instead they defend its ineptitude and pitch the people with the government.
The level of disconnect between the government and the people is as huge as mount everest and as visually clear as crystalline balls. No link between them.
Ours is a clime where the plight of the people outside the seat of power is not heard and attended to, a clime where those charged with our responsibility still find time to make merry while hundreds are killed in #NyayaBlast and several 20 abducted earlier in FGC Buni-Yadi and long forsaken. Ours is a clime where we’d have government officials being aired on National TV all day commissioning a bore-hole and 2pairs of transformers in a 21st century world amidst pressing issues. Not even a single footage of our military in a hot pursuit of insurgents, rather just a couple of tweets from some unconscious aides about a rescue mission going on and mud slinging looking for who to take to the cleaners for their pay-master’s political stunt.
Alas, the justification for the transformation (retrogression) agenda are the many boring jingles with photos of different sector that is visible to the eyes on screen and invisible in reality.
Conversely, the international community communicates with its citizens minutely to restore confidence and trust of its people during any trying times or tribulations. Exhibiting the relationship that binds them together. Not party, believe, tribe, position, region, clan, region but humanity. This is the reality of our predicaments in Nigeria.
I watched a couple of days on National TV some chinese business men praising GEJ for his rapid transformation agenda in their style of using a corrupt settings to boost their developed and organised nation. Our leaders need to be disturbed as a matter of urgency as why foreigners in our land uphold their actions and always take a strict measures against same on any offender back in their nationality? Thailand Prime Minister being the latest of culprit. She was asked to resign along with other 10ministers for abuse of power.
In a quest for global recognition over the years, we have finally gained global attention not by achievement as a nation but by perpetual failure of a hapless and helpless dispensation. Thanks to a four words hashtag #BringBackOurGils.
The thought that government did not posit some 200 plus #chibokGirls are missing is the saddest and probably most cruel of tales in human relation despite parents agonies and public hue on the abduction for 3 weeks. In the leadership brash fashion of living in denial and acute delusion, its expectation is this too shall come to pass just like #NISTragedy, $20bn NNPC Oil fund thievery among many others and then we forge ahead. Nigeria cannot be changed overnight. Afterall, it does not start with this regime.
Unfortunately for GEJ and his ilk, the international community has lend its voice and beam its searchlight after fruitless rambling called #PresidentialMediaChat to see how things unfold.
Leaders brief populace on the go about their worries, clowns blame its citizen their failure.
