Oshiomhole Defends APC’s Decision To Adopt Direct Primaries
National Chairman of the ruling All progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomole, has again defended the party’s decision to adopt “Direct Primaries” in choosing the APC candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in Osun state, saying the move will give more party members a sense of ownership in the electoral process.
Speaking to reporters after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock villa, Abuja on Friday, the former Edo State Governor is hopeful that the APC will win the Osun elections because according to him, its candidate is expected to emerge from a popular and more inclusive process.
The APC chairman who recently has been engaged in series of meetings with aggrieved members threatening to resign from the party, urged Nigerians not take the coalition moves by the Peoples Democratic Party PDP seriously, describing the alliance as friends of multiple feathers.
Oshiomole further insists on conducting fresh APC congresses in Imo State, stating that he has yet to receive any court order stopping the process.
