Okene Church Massacre: Police Transfer Suspects to Abuja, Confirms Arrest of Two Former LG Chairmen
Kogi state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammed Katsina, on Thursday confirmed the arrest of a Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Karaku, who is also the former Chairman of Okene Local Government Area as well as the former Chairman of Okene Local Government, Abubakar Suberu Adagu in connection with the recent violence in Okene area of the state that led to the death of 20 worshipers at the Deeper Life Church, Otite and two soldiers at the Okene central Mosque .
Addressing newsmen in Lokoja, the state capital, Katsina said the two former LG Chairmen and other suspects arrested in connection with the violence have been transferred to Abuja.
He also confirmed the arrest of 12 other suspects which he said are in the custody of the Police for various crimes in the state, and that they are assisting the police with useful information.
He added that a notorious robber, Abdulrazaq Adama aka Risky, who has been terrorizing the central area and other parts of the state has been arrested.
The commissioner warned that anyone indicted in the ongoing investigation would not be spared no matter how highly placed.
He warned that only security agents are empowered by law to carry arms, stressing that any unauthorized person found in possession of arms and ammunition would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
