Ogun LP Holds Ward Congresses
Members of the Labour Party in Ogun State on Saturday trooped out en-masse to elect party officers to run the affairs of the party at ward levels in the State in line with the directive of the National Working Committee- NWC of the party.
The exercise, which commenced at 10 a.m. was witnessed and supervised by all the required agencies including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the State Security Service (SSS) as well as members of the Nigeria Police Force.
Reports across the state indicate that the congress Exercise was very peaceful in all wards as there were no incidents of violence recorded. The Local governments where the exercise took place included Imeko Afon, Yewa North, Yewa South, Ipokia, Ado Odo Ota, Sango Ota, Ewekoro, Ifo, Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, ,Odeda, Obafemi Owode, Remo North, Ikenne, Sagamu, Odogbolu, Ijebu Ode, Ijebu North East, Ijebu East, and Ogun Waterside Local Governments.
According to the Acting Chairman of Ogun State Labour Party, Comrade John Olaleye the exercise was a huge success going by the overwhelming enthusiasm shown by party members in their collective resolve to rout the ruling party in the forthcoming elections.
Eyewitnesses at the Odeda Local Government collation centres reports that going by the turn-out of members of the Labour Party in the LG, and the peaceful manner in which the affairs of the party was conducted, the party has shown enough seriousness as the party to beat in the 2015 general elections.
At Odogbolu, both old and young trooped out to take part in the ward congress exercise in what appears to be their expression of approval for and endorsement of the party as an alternative platform.
