Ogun Govt To Demolish Houses On Water Ways

Ogun State Government says it will embark on massive channelization in flood prone areas in the state to mitigate the effect of future flooding.

The State Governor Mr Ibikunle Amosun who spoke to journalists when he paid a visit to different spots affected by flash flood which occurred in Abeokuta on Friday claiming no less than seven lives said government would look into the possibility of giving necessary relief to those whose property and valuables were affected.

Governor Amosun observed that safe for the road expansion and channelization earlier embarked upon by his administration, the effect of the flood would have been more devastating.

The Governor who visited kuto, itoku, lafenwa,Akin Olugbade ,Amolaso, Igbore and other parts of the state, urged the people to play their parts by protecting public utilities and desist from dumping refuse in the drains as well as building on waterways.

Governor Amosun gave the assurance that the state would make representation to the Federal government to see how the federal government can help in providing relieve and needed assistance.

He warned that those houses that are obstructing waterways may be demolished to pave the way for free flow of water urging the people to always seek government approval before erecting structures.

Governor Amosun commiserate with the family of those who lost their lives in the flood praying against future recurrence.
