Obiora Obiwon Caps The Year With Christmas Day Video ‘Pour Your Love’; Carts Away 4 Awards At Ngma 2014
Secular-R’n’B-Artiste-turned-Gospel-act, Obiora Obiwon today releases a music video for his worship single, Pour Your Love. Pour Your Love adopts a simplistic and minimalist approach in its interpretation of the artiste’s intentions, with the aim to deepen the song’s essence and place the focus entirely on spirit and worship. Obiwon as he is fondly called enthuses, “Pour Your Love is just me worshiping the one who changed my life, in the little way I know how to…He is the reason for the season!”
Recently, Obiora Obiwon carted away four awards at the 4th Annual Nigerian Gospel Music Awards (NGMA). The event which held Sunday, December 14, 2014 in Lagos, Nigeria earned four (4) wins out of five (5) nominations for Obiwon whose rise in the gospel music scene has been gradual and steady since he announced a switch in July 2008. The NGMA winnings were in the following categories and for the following works: Best Collaboration Song for ‘Hail My King’ featuring Frank Edwards, Eben and Kenny K’ore; Best Soul/R&B Song for ‘Good To Me’; Worship Song of the Year for ‘Pour Your Love’ and Album of the Year for his latest LP ‘Gold Water’. The award-winning songs and entire album were produced by long-time collaborator Phat E who also won the NGMA Producer of the Year.
While picking up his fourth plaque for the night, Obiwon rolled literally on the floor in appreciation to God for a surprising night and a great year 2014. It may be recalled that in the same year Obiwon was blessed with a son, got another award, several nominations and continued to exert an appreciable level of impact on the Nigerian gospel music audience.
Pour Your Love video was directed by St. Immaculate.
