No Going Back On Direct Primary – Oshiomole
The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomole, has vowed that the party won’t be blackmailed into going back on its resolve to conduct the governorship and National Assembly exercises through direct primary.
In a brief interaction with newsmen shortly after a meeting with APC Governors, insisted that the outcome of the Ogun State exercise could not stand because it was not conducted in line with the stipulated guideline.
Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Rochas Okorocha, who led the group, said the meeting was held to seek solutions to the sundry crises dogging the primaries and also to right wrongs, so that justice could prevail.
“We came to review the various crises characterising our primaries, especially the APC, with a view to finding solution.
“So, we are looking for a way out in this regard. We are going to find solution. Our party believes in justice, equity and fairness. We are requesting, let the right thing be done and let everyone contest the elections,” he said.
The governors included Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State and Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State. Others were chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum and governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, Governors Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Sani Bello of Niger State, Simon Lalong of Plateau State and Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.
Akeredolu and El-Rufai had visited State House the previous day, although their mission was not disclosed.
