NNPC Bribes Senate Committee to Quash Report Indicting Diezani Madukwe of Fraud – Report
According to a report by NewsRescue, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), on Tuesday offered massive fund in hard currency to the Senate Committee on Finance so that 11 members of the committee will claim that the incomplete report is complete and thereafter quash the misappropriation case against te Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Maduekwe.
Though the committee members are to wait for the forensic report, credible sources said the NNPC is pressuring for the case to be dismissed even before the report comes out.
6 of the 11 members of the committee as at yesterday have already signed to be a part of the deal to quash the committee report, the source said.
It would be recalled that at the end of May, there was a preempted release claiming the committee had cleared the oil minister popularly referred to as the untouchable ‘oil goddess,’ in the global scandal of the missing $20 billion in just 18 months reviewed. Later this premature declaration was declared false.
