Nigerian Govt Begin Talks With Boko Haram Over Chibok Girls
The Nigerian government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari has began talks with the Boko Haram insurgents group over the release of the abducted Chibok Girls.
Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina stated this via his twitter handle Tuesday evening.
Adesina, who was quoting President Buhari who is currently in Paris on a three days visit however said the government is still trying to ascertain genuineness of the leaders of the sect before any negotiation can take place.
“We are talking with Boko Haram over Chibok girls. But we need to ensure they are genuine leaders, then we negotiate,” Adesina quoted the president as saying.
He added that the president said the Boko Haram group would soon be wiped out of the West Africa sub-region.
“It’s a matter of time Boko Haram will finally be defeated, and driven out of the entire West African sub-region, says PMB in Paris,” he said.
