‘New’ PDP Relocates Party Secretariat To Adamawa Governor’s Lodge Abuja
Not deterred by the sealing up of its national secretariat located in Maitama District, Abuja and the refusal of security agencies to vacate the premises, the Baraje-led Peoples Democratic Party has temporarily relocated its office to the Adamawa State Governors Lodge situated at No. 2, Gurara Street, Maitama, Abuja, where it would commence entertaining solidarity visits and granting audience to its teeming members and associates, the party said.
This is contained in a statement released on Wednesday by the Baraje-led PDP and signed by its national secretary, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who also assured its supporters and well-wishers of his faction’s resolve to continue to pursue its legitimate course of promoting a party that is constructed on true and tested democratic ideals, justice, fair play and respect for the rule of law.
It said it has chosen not to engage security agencies in confrontation but toe the path of peace by pursing the matter in court. But temporarily, the party at the Adamawa State Governors Lodge situated at No. 2, Gurara Street, Maitama, Abuja.
Oyinlola added that ‘’the Baraje-led PDP would not be provoked or deterred by actions detrimental to its existence, including the unlawful occupation of its national headquarters by security agencies that have prevented the Baraje-led PDP from moving into its offices located in Maitama District, Abuja’’. It explained that ‘’the Baraje-led PDP, in accordance with its belief in justice, fair play and the rule of law, had in pursuit of remedies, approached the Courts that directed both the Baraje and Bamanga Tukur factions to maintain the status quo; adding that the pronouncement of Hon. Justice Elias Chukwu on the matter was very clear, unambiguous and simple enough to avoid unnecessary rigmarole and arrogant display of power.
‘’In view of the subsisting legal action on the issue, the Baraje-led PDP has, therefore, requested its members all over the nation and in the Diaspora, who may wish to express solidarity to contact any member of its National Working Committee, with a view to fixing appointments for such functions. ‘’We will not be deterred and no amount of intimidation and calculated attempts to frustrate our legitimate goal of participating in the democratic processes in our dear country would stop us from contributing our quota to national development’’, the statement added. ‘’The solidarity visits and courtesy calls are to hold at the Adamawa State Governor’s Lodge, Abuja, situated at No. 2, Gurara Street, Maitama District, Abuja’’.
The statement expressed the appreciation of the National Working Committee of the Baraje-led PDP to all its members, supporters and sympathisers all over Nigeria and abroad for their steadfastness in the spirit of advancing progress, peace and development in the polity.
