NDLEA Serves Buruji Kashamu Extradition Notice
National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has served a notice of application for extradition of the Ogun East Senator-elect, to the United States.
In a statement released to the press by Ofoyeju Mitchell, Public Affairs Head of the NDLEA, the application for the extradition was contained in an application made to the Chief Judge, Federal High Court, Abuja in suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/479/2015 and was served to the embattled lawmaker on 1st of June 2015.
The office of the Attorney-General of the Federation is seeking the extradition of Buruji Kashamu to answer alleged drug trafficking charges.
This is in line with the Extradition Act CAP, E25 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 (as modified by Extradition Act Modification Order, 2014).
Attempt to arrest and charge Buruji when operatives of the anti-narcotics agency stormed his house in Lagos failed after the court barred the agency and connected thereto from unlawfully arrest the alleged drug baron.
The NDLEA only vacated Kashamu’s residence after laying siege on his property for six days.
