National Defence College To Partner Kogi SDGs On Capacity Building And Empowerment
The National Defence College, Abuja has declared interest to collaborate with the Kogi State’s office of the Sustainable Development Goals in the areas of capacity building and empowerment of its personnel.
Commodore M.E. Berkeley who led the team of course 26 participants of the NDC to the office of the Special Adviser to the governor of Kogi State on SDGs Arc Abdulmumeen Okara disclosed this to newsmen.
In his remarks, Commodore Berkeley said “The NDC is interested in collaborating with the SDGs in the areas of capacity building and youth empowerment
Through adequate requisite training. “We have been in the state in the past three days. We have seen what your office has done in achieving the target of the 17 thematic goals of the SDGs. The NDC has a well organized programmes for the training of officers from grade level 13 and above and we have seen that we can partner with your office in realization of that initiative”.
In his response, the Special Adviser to the governor on Sustainable Development Goals, Arc Abdulmumeen Okara thanked the NDC team for recognizing the effort and achievements of the SDGs and their willingness to partner with the agency. According to Okara, “the goal 8 of the Sustainable development is decent work and economic growth and goal 16 is peace and Justice strong institution. The involvement of NDC in achieving these goals cannot be overemphasized and we are ready to partner with you to improve our human capacity and empowerment of our workforce. What we have achieved so far was as a result of Governor Bello’s desire to develop rural communities rapidly by prompt release of the state’s counterpart fund of N1.2b immediately he assumed office”.
While highlighting the records of the SDGs in Kogi State under the leadership of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Okara said the SDGs was constructing 249 different projects mainly in health and sanitation across the three senatorial district of the state. While stating that most of these projects have been completed, he said the SDGs has also finalized plans to expand it projects to other areas such as education and water.
Commodore Berkeley presented an award of Merit to Arc Okara in recognition of his landmark achievements as the state focal person and Special Adviser to the governor on SDGs.
