NASS To Spend N6.4bn On New Cars In 2017 Budget
Details of 2017 budget of the National Assembly disclosed on Thursday revealed that the 8th assembly will spend a whooping N6.4m on the purchase of “motor vehicles” in the 2017 fiscal year.
This is despite N4.7bn budgeted for the same purpose in the 2016 budget which generated a lot of controversies after the lawmakers began to take delivery of the vehicles.
It will be recalled that that the management of the national assembly in February 2016, took delivery of 10 princely cars for the senate president at the cost of about N330m.
In November of the same year, the house of representatives took delivery of some Peugeot 508 series at the cost of about N3.6bn for its members.
The N6.4bn earmarked for the purchase of the vehicles is part of the N125billion total budget whose line items was finally made known after eight years of keeping it secret.
