Nasarawa: Former Gov Akwe Doma Moves to Unseat Al-Makura, Picks PDP Nomination Form
Three years after, immediate-past governor, Aliyu Akwe Doma is returning to run for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ticket to challenge Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for Nasarawa State Government House in 2015.
Doma, who won the governorship seat on the platform of the PDP in 2007, conceded power to Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura in 2011, losing his second term bid. Al-Makura defeated him on the platform of the APC.
Doma is determined to end Al-Makura’s stay in office at the polls, where he said the wounds inflicted on the state since his leaving office will receive healing with his coming back. He was availed the PDP intent and nomination form by a pressure group called Madauchi Associates, which leadership purchased the document preparatory to field him to contest in 2015. He promised to reconcile parts of the state hit by waves of bloody violence which the state government has not been able to tackle since 2012.
Doma expressed sadness that the people’s aspiration for a state of their own has only fetched them graves after he left office in 2011, blaming the continued violence in the state on what he called “the outcome of an undertaker leadership.”
