NAHCON Completes Airlift Of Pilgrims Back To Nigeria, Organises Dinner To Mark Success
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has officially completed the 2017 Hajj exercise.
The retune journey which commenced on on The 6th of September ended on the 2nd of October, which is three days behind them initially scheduled date of 5th October.
The departure of Max Air flight NGL2110 from Jeddah to Kano via Port Harcourt at 08:53 today, carrying 172 Kano pilgrims, 76 Rivers pilgrims and 30 officials, marked the end of airlift of pilgrims for 2017 Hajj, the aviation unit of the commission said.
Meanwhile, The commission yesterday organised a special dinner to celebrate The end of the hajj exercise.
During these dinner, Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Abdullah Mukhtar Muhammad commended Nigerian pilgrims for giving the best account of themselves during the exercise and their stay in the Holy Land.
He said the dinner is a double celebration, to thank Allah for the successful completion of the airlift of Nigerian pilgrims today, which coincide with the nation’s fifty seventh Independence anniversary
He therefore, extended his appreciation to the Federal Government, the Saudi authorities, the Saudi based service providers, Nigerian Saudi Residents, Staff of the Commission and other officials for a wonderful delivery of services expected of them during the Hajj exercise.
Barrister Abdullah Mukhtar expressed happiness that no Nigerian pilgrim was reported or arrested for any criminal offence.
He said preparation for the next Hajj exercise should be considered by all to have started.
He also congratulated all Nigerians for Nigeria’s Independence anniversary.
In his vote of thanks the Nigerian Consul General in Jeddah, Ambassador Muhammad Sani Yunus expressed satisfaction with the conduct of Nigerian pilgrims who became worthy ambassadors of the Country in the holy land and the commitment and sacrifices of NAHCON to ensure that Nigerian pilgrims got value for their money.
He congratulated the President Muhammadu Buhari, his lieutenants and all Nigerians on this Independence anniversary.
