Mr President, Are You Still In Charge? By Enenim Ubon
I am fully aware that you are the President and Commander in Chief of Nigeria’s Army Forces, but I would like to know if you are still in charge of affairs in Aso Rock, or do we find someone else to direct our complaints to?
Another bomb exploded last night Sir, and another set of innocent citizens of your country died for nothing. Families are shedding tears, hearts are broken, lives will never remain the same, I ask you Sir,where do we go from here? Without mincing words and with regard to the security of lives and properties of helpless citizens, your administration has failed us. We have lost count of how many people have died from this senseless attacks since 2010, we are even more tired of words of consolation – we need action.
I have always believed the adage that says “the gentleness of a tiger,is not cowardice”. It is time Sir,to take MORE action, show us you are TRULY on top of the situation;personally I believe you will be reporting ‘late for duty’ but its ‘better late than never’. It is no longer an ‘hypothesis’,we are in a war situation and I urge you to invoke your full powers as Commander in Chief to help your citizens who daily “walk in the valley of the shadow of death” and in all sincerity ‘fear all evil’.
Just in case you are not aware Sir,some of your citizens have not benefited from the wealth of this nation in anyway – no education,no scholarships,no electricity,no roads in their areas;all they need is protection of their lives,to carry out their daily hustling and feed their loved ones.
I do not believe you would be so insensitive to be relaxing while thousands of your citizens die intermittently; but whatever you are doing is either in the wrong direction or grossly inadequate – its impact is quite little, we want to see people brought to justice. Is it not surprising to you Sir,that till date not even one sponsor of this crimes has been identified and brought to justice?
It is time for MORE serious actions, Mr President and the lot falls on you to lead the way and pilot the affairs of an already weakened nation at this critical time of its history. Remember Sir, posterity will judge us all.
