Mr. Nuhu Audu Bajoga: Man of All Seasons! By Bello Ahmadu Alkammawa
The name Mr. Nuhu Audu Bajoga has become a household product since the time he join Kaduna State Civil Service. In spite of challenges here and there he ran every position that comes on his way amicably.
He was known to be a silent and introvert person, but very focused on anything to do with taking his people and the state to greater heights. He belongs to the type of people that cannot give up so easily once they start a course or an initiative no matter the difficulties they find themselves in achieving their desire. Political warrior who was blessed with eyes that can understand any writing on the wall no matter its shape, a leader who was also blessed with listening ears that can differentiate between childish and maturity, besides his leadership prowess and qualities, he is unlike others; he is very friendly; humane, simple in driving desired goals, open and generous to all humanity without considering where you come.
His name make lists among those politicians who has championed the cause of taking people to greater height through skill acquisition initiatives to used in order to makes them self-reliant and other meaningful programmes for the development of all and sundry, workaholic, charismatic leader, simple in dealing with people, energetic, brave and professional chartered accountant of every magnitude.
His desire of rendering service to communities through empowering of youth/women as well as assisting students who excel in accounting at various institutions in the country coupled with his desire of giving succor to less privileged in the society made him to become a force to reckon with in the political horizon of Kaduna State. His foresight, courage and simplicity made him to become a pillar of peaceful co-existence in all the places he had worked through coming out with initiatives that can bring mutual understanding between Christians and Muslims for them to see themselves as brother’s keepers.
Born on July 4th 1949 to the family of Mallam Nyam and Mama Audu in Kwoi, present Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State. He attended the SIM Primary School, Kwoi from 1955 to 1959; Baptist Primary School, Keffi from 1960 to 1963; and SIM Secondary School, Kagoro from 1964 to 1968. He went to St. Paul’s College, Wusasa, and Zaria where he obtained the Higher School Certificate (HSC) from 1969 to 1970 and attended the Kaduna Polytechnic from 1972 to 1975 where he obtained a Diploma in Accounting. He went to the Slough College, England from 1976 to 1980 where he graduated and qualified into the association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA Professional 2).
When he returned to Nigeria, Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga Audu had a stint with the Kaduna State Civil Service where, first as an Accountant with the Ministry of Health and later with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, all between 1975 to 1976. He later joined the Ashaka Cement Plc in 1980 as the first Internal Audit Manager of the Company. He was appointed Area Manager for Bauchi, Jos and Kano in 1981 and he served in that capacity until 1988. He became Sales Administrative Manager in 1989 and later elevated to Regional Manager in-charge of North-West and North-East Zones from 1989 – 1993. His good conduct, diligence and total commitment to duty earned him the confidence of the Company’s Management that appointed him as General Support Services, a position he held from 1993 until his retirement in 2002.
While in the services of Ashaka Cement Plc, Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga Audu was hard-working and a worthy ambassador of the people of Kaduna State, but his active participation in politics began soon after his retirement. In 2004, President Olusegun Obasanjo appointed him Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Poland and concurrently accredited to the Czech Republic. He served from 2004 to 2007.
As one of the founding members of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga Audu has used his vast experience in serving the party at various capacities in which he has recorded tremendous achievements which make the PDP to be the only acceptable party to the people of Kaduna state, he also make sure those elected fulfill their campaign promises they made to the electorates, this and other leadership qualities made him to command respect from sons and daughters of the party. This earned him the confidence of arguably all Party faithful when he was nominated and elected State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kaduna State branch.
He made giant strides through coming out with programs that not only alleviate the suffering of party members but make them to become self-reliant in the society, he also imbibe the culture of leading by example which made his party members to adhere to the rules and regulations of the party which give birth to discipline and respect to elders.
His Excellency Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga Audu is an articulate and persuasive personality that delights challenges and hard work. He demonstrates determination to excel and can communicate well with people at all levels. He can shape successful working relationships with a wide range of people, competent at creating an inspiring working environment and can advance change, efficiency and best practice. His recent elevation to the post of Deputy Governor of Kaduna State did not come as surprise going by his enormous contribution to humanity in every position he come across, in fact by his appointment many political stakeholders in the state understand that his boss Governor Muktar Ramalan Yero knows his onion.
