Military Kills 74 Boko Haram Insurgents In Borno…2 Soldiers Wounded
Deputy Director Army Public Relations (DDAPR) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Dole in a statement released today said the Army in collaboration with the Air Force launched assault on the Boko Haram camp at Galangi and Lawanti villages near Mainok on Thursday, killing 74 of the insurgents while some also fled.
“In continuation of the on ping offensive operation against terrorists, the troops of the 7 Division Nigerian Army destroyed another Boko Haram terrorists Camp in Galangi and Lawanti villages within Mainok general area of Borno State on Thursday October 24, 2013. The operation which involved ground and aerial assault supported by Nigerian Air Force led to the destruction of the identified terrorists camp, killing 74 terrorists while others fled with serious injuries,” the division spokesman said in the statement.
He disclosed two Isuzu Tiger Pick Up Vehicles and five Hilux vehicles belonging to the insurgents were destroyed, adding that two soldiers were wounded during the operation.
“The General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army Maj General Obidah Ethan appreciates the general public for their resilience and cooperation by providing timely and credible information to security agencies. General Ethan reiterates the commitment of 7 Division to ensuring safety of lives and properties of all citizens within its area of responsibility.,” he added.
