Marilyn Ogar Transferred To Maiduguri, Recalled
But for the suspension of its earlier decision, the former spokesperson of Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria’s secret police, Marilyn Ogar would have been resuming in Maiduguri, Borno STate where she was expected to carry out her new assignment.
According to TheCable, Ogar, who until recently was the Deputy Director, Public Relation in the secret agency was posted to Maiduguri, Borno State, but the posting has now been put on hold following insinuations that it was “punitive.”
Ogar, who was promoted by the administration of Former President Goodluck Jonathan before leaving office has already lost her promotion following the directives of the new DSS boss, Lawal Musa Daura that all appointments made by Jonathan prior to his exit be reversed.
About 45 new state directors who were promoted under Jonathan have lost their new ranks as their promotions have been reversed.
While Ogar is not the only one affected in the demotion, her transfer to Maiduguguri was suspended so as not to create impression that she was been punished for her role in the last administration.
Ogar clearly politicised the activities and pronouncements made on behalf of the agency notable among which is her face-off with the Bring Back Our Girls movement and the DSS raids on the Lagos office of the All Progressives Congress (APC) last year and allegations that bomb goes off only instates where APC did not win governorship elections.
According to TheCable source, “Right now, she is just hanging around in Abuja awaiting the next order.”
Ogar’s transfer to Maiduguri which was eventually suspended are part of the reorganisation exercise currently going on under the new DSS boss.
The reports added that Daura has been mandated to probe the tenure of his predecessor, Ita Ekpenyong, who
An official from the office of the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) has been pencilled down to do the job. The official, from Katsina state, is expected to be appointed as the new director of finance, taking over from an operative from Plateau state who was only appointed recently.
“Daura’s mandate is to probe Ekpenyong, but it is not looking bright because some of the allegations being examined are difficult to prove. It has now been established that the raids on APC office in Lagos were based on a tip-off by an APC member. This has complicated matters,” the source added.
