Many Feared Killed As Bomb Blast Hit Civil Servant Verification Centre In Zaria
Scores of people were feared killed Tuesday morning in Kaduna State as a bomb explosion rips through the Sabon Gari area of Zaria town in the state.
The blast suspected to have been carried out by the Boko Haram insurgents went off at the local government secretariat where civil servants were undergoing biometric screening.
At least 20 persons many of whom are civil servants undergoing the biometric exercise were said to have died in the blast.
Kaduna State governor, Nasir Elrufai confirmed the development via his twitter handle just now as he commiserated with the victims of the blast.
“I am sad that a terrorist bomb attack just killed 20 people in Sabon Gari Zaria. May the souls of our innocent departed rest in peace, Amen.
We call on our citizens to be vigilant and avoid crowded places like markets, mosques, churches and motor parks in the next few weeks. We call on our people to report any suspicious persons and movements to law enforcement agents, traditional rulers and religious leaders.
The Kaduna State government is working with Federal security agencies that are taking proactive measures to frustrate such terrorists.” Nasir El-Rufai
