Macron To Visit Lagos June
The Lagos Government says it will be playing a major role in hosting the French President, Emmanuel Macron who is scheduled to visit Nigeria next month.
The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr Steve Ayorinde made this known in Ikeja during a news briefing on the activities of the Ministry in the last one year.
The French President is reported to have worked for six months in Abuja earlier in his career
Mr Ayorinde explained that President Macron had showed interest in the African Culture as his country has released plans to dedicate the year 2020 to celebrating African Culture.
According to the Commissioner, Lagos had already been invited to participate actively in the pre-event activities
Mr Ayorinde who stated that restoration work on the Badagry Heritage Museum and complimentary facilities was completed during the period under review said in addition to the financial support from Ford Foundation, the State had also secured partnership of major museums in Britain, the USA and France for the construction of the Lagos Museum on Lagos Island.
“Governor Akinwunmi Ambode will perform the ground breaking of the Lagos Museum this July” he said.
