Let Us Give Buharism A Shot In The Arm For The Good Of Nigeria – Tony Amadi
The All Progressive Congress should take credit in the emergence of Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the Enugu West Senator as Deputy Senate President instead of unleashing a conundrum of confusion as if it is not working for the unity of Nigeria following their God-given power as the new ruling party in the country.
In a statement released in London yesterday, Chief Tony Amadi, the spokesman for the former PDP National Chairman, Dr. Ahmadu Adamu MU’AZU said that instead of working up its nerves because of the Saraki/Ekweremadu emergence as the leaders of the 8th Senate, the party should congratulate itself because it has contributed immensely by the action to the unity of the country.
If only the APC knows what this action means to the country at large, it’s leaders will stop calling for the resignation of their National Chairman Chief Oyegun and support the new Senate leadership for the greater unity and progress it will guarantee the nation.
For instance, why should a potential Nigerian president of the calibre of Senator Kwankwaso descend so low to castigate Senators Saraki and Ekweremadu for emerging as President and Deputy President of the Senate when they are just the best pair for the enormous job needed to push the Buhari legislative agenda for Nigeria.
In fact what former Governor Kwankwaso has done will definitely haunt him when he declares his bid for the 2019 presidency which is his ultimate goal. The APC should feel very proud of this achievement because it will enhance its ruling party credentials and show that it believes in national unity of Nigeria.
It is equally surprising that APC’s loquacious propaganda machine led by Alhaji Lai Mohammed failed to decipher the enormous advantage the voting at the senate on June 9 have done to their party. Yes the party feel worsted by the PDP advanced political strategy and Olisa Metuh, the PDP chief spin doctor’s relentless onslaught after the Senate voting, but that is not enough reason to feel bad about the unifying content of the situation at hand.
It is certain that President Buhari will be the chief beneficiary of the new National Assembly helmsmen when they get into serious business, because he saw it coming and famously allowed them to produce their leadership without party tinkering. Saraki and Ekweremadu will certainly promote the President’s programmes, but the APC should clean its bloodied nose and get on with the task ahead.
Nigeria has got to the stage where only the best men or women are appointment to top positions irrespective of their political tendency, whether they are sarakists, jagabanists or turakists. The goal now is for Buharism to be a success by 2019 when we return to the trenches for another round of voting.
