Leaked Audio: We Won’t Take Part In Police Investigation – Wike
Nyesom Wike, the current governor of Rivers State has said that him and his administration would not take part in the proposed probe by the Police concerning the December 10 rerun election.
The governor who spoke at a victory thanksgiving mass organized by the Peoples Democratic Party at Our Lady Chaplaincy of Catholic Institute of West Africa, was responding to the Inspector General of Police disclosure.Wike who described the move as phony, added that there is a hidden agenda on the purported investigation. He claimed that the move is an attempt to indict the PDP, and start their political motivated indictments.
The IGP, Ibrahim Idris had disclosed that he had constituted an investigative panel to probe the leak audio where Wike was heard threatening to murder an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Wike instead, accused the police of murdering the people of the state and turning it around to investigate.
He said” “The police cannot deliberately murder Rivers people in cold blood and turn around to investigate.
“We are not a party to their so-called panel. We have passed that stage and we cannot fall into the trap of a panel of inquiry. After killing our people, you want us to assist you unravel what? It is the police that killed our people.”
The governor stressed that the police who is responsible for the killing cannot investigate in the attempt to subvert the decision of the election outcome.
He accused the police of refusing to prosecute the APC member who was caught on camera printing fake result sheets before the elections.
He disclosed that the petition written to the Police HIgh Command regarding the activity of one Mr. Steven Hasso, an ACP, and the Commander of special Anti-Robbery Squad, Mr. Akin Fakorede were ignored.
