Lagos 2019: We Have No Governorship Candidate Yet, Says ADP Chairman

The Action Democratic Party (ADP) Lagos State Chapter has debunked the rumour making the rounds that it has picked a candidate who will be the flag bearer of the party for the Lagos State gubernatorial election in 2019.
The State Chairman of the party, Barrister Nasir Adewale Bolaji while addressing a cross session of journalists on Thursday at the state secretariat of the party, made this clarification.
Bolaji said that the ADP in Lagos has not conducted primaries to determine the flag bearer of the party; putting an end to what he described as an unfounded rumour. He said that ADP is a party that operates strictly according to the tenets of democracy and will never compromise on constitutionality and the rule of law. Adewale says that his party will never drench itself in the gutters of impunity and that as a lawyer, he understands the implications of these things.
ADP says that the platform is open to every interested member of the public with the capacity, character and competence to make a positive difference in the lives of Lagosians and Nigerians as a whole. He said categorically that all elective positions from state House of Assembly, House of Reps, Senate and the Governorship are all still open for interested aspirants. He however admitted that some aspirants have been showing interest to fly the party’s flag but that due process must prevail, he noted that Lagosians are intelligent people who won’t take less but the best from every political parties. .
The party’s boss in Lagos has said that when the time comes, every aspirant will have to go through primaries as stipulated clearly in the Nigerian Electoral Act and that of the party. He says that the ADP constitution allows every card carrying member of the party to participate in the selection process for candidates.
Bolaji also assured Lagosians that his party, the ADP will present best candidates for all the elective positions in the 2019 polls. He says that the aim of the ADP as a fastest growing political party is to bring forward competent Nigerians that can easily connect with people, provide good governance and be accountable to the people of Lagos and all of Nigeria.
