Kwara Govt Assures Of Safety During Sallah Celebrations
The Kwara State government has assured Muslim faithful and all the people of the State of their safety before, during and after the forthcoming Eid celebrations.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Isiaka Gold, adequate measures have been put in place by the government to ensure a hitch-free Eid prayer and celebrations.
Alhaji Gold noted that as part of arrangements, security agencies have been fully mobilized to ensure peace and order at all praying grounds, while stressing that nobody should exercise any fear or concern about their safety during and after the prayer.
He said that details and timing of the Eid prayer will be released by the Committee set up by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari.
The SSG also urged the public to ignore recent negative pronouncements regarding the forthcoming Eid prayer, which tended to portray certain individuals and community’s as perpetrators of disorder, stressing the government has no information linking anyone with with plans to disrupt the peace.
Alhaji Gold assured that the State government will do everything possible to uphold the rights of all citizens and residents of Kwara to worship in an atmosphere of peace and security, and within the ambit of the law.
Additionally, Alhaji Gold admonished the people to continue to utilize legitimate channels for airing their grievances as guaranteed by the constitution and other relevant laws of Nigeria.
He noted that the State government will continue to welcome constructive criticisms and feedback from the people, which are tailored towards ensuring the development of the State.
