Kudan LG Chairman Dauda Hunkuyi Saves Over N500mn From Verification Of On-going Projects

The chairman of Kudan Local Government Area in Kaduna, Dauda Iliya Hunkuyi has saved over N500 million from the verification exercise conducted on on-going contracts and liabilities in the local government.

Giving details of the outcme of the verification, Hunkuyi said he set up the verification exercise to verify financial details of the report handed over to him by the former chairman of Kudan Local Government.

According to him, total a liability before the verification is 721, 239, 076.74 million naira. The chairman said they found discrepancies and some of the cost of on-going projects didn’t add up. After the verification exercise, they discovered two ghost projects and eight unidentified projects in the local government. Total number of on-going projects is twenty five.

It would be remembered that, Dauda Iliya Hunkuyi in a press release dated 14th July, 2015 followed the footsteps of Kaduna state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai in cutting his salary by fifty percent and promised to make public details of how allocations to Kudan Local Government is spent.

The verification exposed clear lack of financial discipline from the previous leadership and displayed a contrived desire to manipulate figures to short change the Kudan Local Government.
