Kidnapping: Kwara Assembly Enjoins Security Agencies On Incessant Increase

The Kwara State House of Assembly has called on the State Commissioner of Police, to react to its earlier Resolutions by addressing the People,on the incessant cases of Kidnapping in the state.
The call was contained in its resolutions, following a Matter of Urgent Public Importance on rampant cases of kidnapping in the state, raised by a member representing Okuta/Yashikira Constituency, Hon Adamu Usman.
The Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad, while reading the resolutions of the House, said the call became necessary ,as Peace according to him, was synonymous with Wealth in the state.
This, he said would go along way, to allay the fears of the citizens, whom he said, were daily apprehensive of the fear of the unknown.
The legislature equally enjoined the State Commissioner of Police, to intensify efforts, at rescuing the current victims in Chikanda, Osi and Tanke in Baruteen, Ekiti and Ilorin South Local Government Areas respectively.
The Parliament also urged religious leaders, to sensitize their followers on the non desirability of kidnapping and other social vices, to halt the current moral bankruptcy permeating the society.
Hon. Adamu Usman, had while raising the Matter, disclosed that another three cases of kidnapping had been reported, within the last few days, in the state and emphasized the need for the security agencies, to address the people of the state, on efforts at curbing the trend.
The House had last week, among other things, urged the security agencies, to come up, with strategies of curbing the menace in the state.
Also a bill to amend the Laws Authentication (Amendment) Bill 2017, to read the “Kwara State House of Assembly Enacts” instead of “Be it Enacted” wherever it occurs, passed through Second Reading at the Floor of the House.
