Kano Bomb Blast: Igbo Youths Calls for Jonathan’s Resignation
Igbo youths under the banner of Ohaneze Ndigbo have called on President Goodluck Jonathan to resign, if he is not competent enough to tackle the growing insecurity in the country.
In a Press statement made in Enugu, and signed by Mazi Alex Okemiri, the national organizing chairman of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth, the group described the Monday bomb blast in Kano State as “shocking and alarming”.
The statement entitled “Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth may Declare War over Boko Haram Insurgency”, reads thus:
“The dastardly killing of innocent Nigerians especially Igbo commuters in a Kano Luxury bus station is shocking and alarming. The Boko Haram has murdered sleep and they will not have any sleep.
“Unfortunately, Mr. President Goodluck Jonathan appears very weak to tackle this menace. His usual homily after this kind of dastard incident is no longer amusing. He must act now or resign for lack of will and candour”
Reiterating its position, the Igbo youth body said: “we warn that we shall declare the kind of war that has never been witnessed in Africa if this kind of bloodletting by terrorists in the North continues. This war will be a child’s play compared to the last civil war in Nigeria.
“We also call on all the Governors in the Boko Haram infested states of the North to resign if they cannot checkmate the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents.
“Finally, we insist that the government of Kano State and the federal government must attend to the families of all the victims of that suicide bombing”.
