Kano Blast Update: Over 80 Killed, 126 Injured; Suspect Nabbed and Set Ablaze
At least 80 Muslim worshipers were said to have died from the Bomb explosion that rocked Kano Central Mosque on Friday, while 126 others are critically wounded.
There are however fears from official sources who confirmed the death toll of 80 that the figures could rise even higher as battle to save some of the injured continue.
Three explosions were said to have gone off at the mosque when the worshipers were about to observe their prayers.
While two of the bombs exploded simultaneously within the mosque, the third one was said to have gone off moments after, thus increasing the panic and the casualty.
The explosions which went off at about 2pm local time sent shivers round the city as angry youths became restive and protesting the inability of security agents to act to nip the attacks in the bud. Many of the injured and the dead were moved to various health facilities in the state, particularly the nearby Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital and the Abdullahi Wase General Hospital.
Eye witnesses said the scene paint a gory picture with mangled bodies, rivers of human blood flowing in all directions.
There were reports later that a suspected member of the Boko Haram sect who was captured by the youths of the area was immediately set ablaze.
