Kaduna Govt Charges El-Zakzaky, Wife, Two Others With Murder
The The Kaduna State Government has filed a murder charge on Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as Shi’ites, his wife, Zeenah, and two others .
The defendants allegedly murdered soldier, Corporal Yakuku Dankaduna, was said to be in the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, during the December 2015 clash between Shi’ites and the soldiers in the convoy in Zaria, Kaduna State.
El-Zakzaky, his wife, Yakub Katsina and Sanusi Koki, were named in the charges marked KDH/KAD/60C/2018 and dated April 18, 2018.
The charges were filed against the defendants after weeks of repeated clashes in Abuja between the police and hundreds of protesting Shi’ites who were demanding the release of the detainees.
El-Zakzaky and his wife are presently been detained by the Department of State Security Service (DSS).
