#KadInvest2016: Partnerships that Guarantee Progress By Adejoh Idoko Momoh
Partnership, all inclusive growth, equal opportunities; these are not words that typically come to mind when we think of Northern Nigeria and it’s for good reason. After all, no Nigerian region portrays more division; it is erroneously believed that the Northern economy is stagnated and that opportunities are sparse or available only to a privileged few.
You’d be forgiven for thinking the above and the Kaduna State Government has a grand plan to change this line of thought. Starting on the 6th and 7th April, 2016, the state will launch a 2 day economic and investment summit aptly titled ‘KADINVEST 2016’ with the theme, ‘Let’s move Kaduna into the Global Economy’.
The event presents an opportunity to unveil its economic agenda, complete with its vision and strategic development plan; all growth oriented actions embarked upon by the present administration to foster even development, equal access to state resources and partnerships that progress both investors and citizens.
The primary purpose of any serious government should be taking the kind of decisions that open up its investment environment to the sort of participation that increases economic opportunities and Kaduna State constantly demonstrates a willingness to take these bold decisions.
Only recently, it launched the Kaduna Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) which is the sole collector of all state revenues, it proceeded to review taxation and enacted its Tax Codification Law which puts all taxes and levies payable in one document. In plain terms, what the Tax Codification ensures is that cases of multiple taxation in the State are essentially eliminated.
The State has also launched the Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA) which is a one stop shop for all investment promotion activities, all these actions are geared towards offering the investor absolute certainty and making the state an international and local investment destination.
My advice really is simple; make plans, pack your bags. There’s a big economic unveiling come April 6th and 7th in Kaduna to address landmark innovations that will make the state profitable.
Not just for itself, but profitable for you, its citizens and all who seek to partner with a vibrant, healthy and economically prosperous state.
