Jonathan “Will Do Something” to Rescue Chibok Girls – Minister
The Minister of Lands and Housing, Akon Eyakenyi, on Tuesday said that President Goodluck Jonathan, would do something to rescue the abducted Chibok schoolgirls.
She spoke during the protest organized by the #BringBackOurGirls group to to march on the presidential villa demanding for answers to the faith of the girls who have spent 6 months in captivity.
The protesters had planned to have a meeting with the president, but they were blocked by security operatives as they approached the Villa gate on Yakubu Gowon Crescent.
Instead, the president sent four female ministers – Ministers for Women Affairs, Zainab Maina; Water Resources, Sarah Ochekpe; Environment, Laurentia Mallam, and Ms. Eyakenyi to meet with the group.
Ms. Eyakenyi, while receiving the letter delivered by the group said “We will carry the message to him and he’ll do something,” ”We are joining your voices today to demand and request that our daughters be returned.”
