Jonathan Appoints Bamanga Tukur as Chairman of Nigeria Railway Corporation
The immediate chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has been appointed as the Chairman of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC.
Tukur’s appointment as chairman of the Railway Corporation was announced in a statement by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sam Nwaobasi.
He said President Jonathan has approved the appointment Bamanga Tukur to oversee the board of the Nigerian Railway Corporation.
The President had last week assured the former PDP Chairman that he will be given another job that is tougher than that of the party’s chairman.
He said this while announcing the resignation of Tukur at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.

“For us to make sure that we rest these issues, the party chairman agreed to step aside. … Myself and the chairman will go to the State House for some issues that we need to discuss. He is not guilty in anyway. I am going to give him a tougher job than that of party chairman,” Jonathan said.
The President, according to the statement has also approved the appointment of Dr. Ghaji Ismaila Bello as Director-General, National Population Commission with effect from January 8th, 2014.
