JKF Is Victorious Already Part 1, By Tolu Dare
Congratulations to our Governor Dr John Kayode Fayemi because he is already victorious in the June 21, 2014 Gubernatorial Elections in Ekiti State by the grace of God.
As we begin the campaigns in earnest, the choice before Ekitis is CLEAR.
JKF because of the heart he has for God and the heart he also has for the men and women of Ekiti has already touched the Heart of God. He certainly imbibed this trait and passion for service from his youth when he served in church as An Altar Boy. This is why As The Lord God
of Hosts Lives, he is already victorious in the coming elections.
Our Governor has demonstrated this by the myriads of social safety nets and interventions he has provided since he became Governor.
As far as I am concerned, his flagship intervention remains the Non Contributory Social Security Old Age Pension that he has paid to indigent elderly in the state for over 2 and half years without fail.
This intervention as we all know is the first and ONLY one of its kind in our country and in West Africa. It remains only one of 5 in the continent of Africa and one of the under ten of its kind in the WORLD.
God is pleased with JKF’s social security to the elderly in Ekiti because the scripture says; as he has done this for the least of these of God’s children, he has done it unto God.
It is again written that God is not unrighteous to forget his labour of love to these vulnerable and otherwise helpless people. It has been established objectively that the life expectancy of our elderly has greatly increased since this initiative was launched.
The economies of our local communities have greatly been enhanced as a result and incidence of poverty for the elderly concerned, their families and for the market men and women who are beneficiaries of their increased spending capabilities, have been eradicated in excess
of over 70%.
It will interest us to know that while JKF has ensured that no matter what, the monthly stipend to these elderly have not failed; the country with the highest number of social security interventions in the world, The United Kingdom has greatly and substantially cut back its spending on social security in the last 3 years.
ORASE the operation renovate all schools in Ekiti, also a first of its kind initiative in Nigeria is already now been copied by other states in our federation. Prior to this, some states have attempted haphazard and staggered renovation of schools; some even claimed to have built
mega schools while hundreds are left in dilapidation; however A One Fell Swoop Renovation of all Secondary and Primary Schools in the Federal Republic of Nigeria was pioneered by our Governor, Dr Fayemi in Ekiti State.
The Ongoing Operation Renovate all Hospitals in Ekiti is also a First in Nigeria. Again some other states have attempted staggered renovation of health institutions here and there, but a TOTAL and COMPREHENSIVE RENOVATION of all Government Owned hospitals anywhere in our country has also been pioneered by Dr Fayemi.
The LAPTOP PER STUDENT initiative that is ongoing in our state is also a pioneering initiative of our Governor. As we can all remember, it was Dr Fayemi that promised in 2007 when he was campaigning for his first tenure as governor, that he will put a laptop on the desk of
each student in Ekiti. This he has done and laptops have also been given to the teachers too.
The Ekiti laptop initiative as it is now currently being reviewed and updated is more robust, more functional and covers a wider reach of beneficiaries than any similar initiative in our Republic.
The Unprecedented Road Network in our state is also worth noting: We are all witnesses to the unprecedented good road network we now have in Ekiti. Starting from the road that passed through my City in Ipoti Ekiti, our Governor tarred the road from Ijero to Aiyetoro which has
been bad for over 35 years prior to this reconstruction. I remember it used to take over 40 minutes to drive from Ijero to Ipoti a distance of 4 miles( now this is done in 3 and half minutes) Apart from some ineffective cosmetic work hitherto done on this particular 17 mile road, the road was previously constructed by the defunct Western Region Government in the late 50s and early 60s.
Ekiti indigenes have always been amazed at the new road networks that presently abound in Ekiti. I will quickly cite 3 most recent examples: A cousin of mine who lectures in the University of Manchester and a fierce critic of mis governance in Nigeria was home last year and stayed with me in Ado. He came for the funeral of his mum, he was so impressed with what he saw that he was able to shuttle between Ado and Ipoti in less than an hour on several occasions. He actually put pressure on me then that he had to meet Mr Governor personally to say “Thank You”
Another person who has lived in England for over 25 years and who comes home regularly was in Ekiti last week. His mother was from Ikun Ekiti. He called me frantically and was full of praises for the Governor for the good networks of roads he saw. He said to me that he travelled from Lagos and passed through Ogun state, went to see his brother in Babcock University and some family members in Ibadan where he hails from, and passed by Osun where he had his secondary education. In his words ” the ekiti road network is much better than the ones I saw in Ogun, Osun and Oyo states on my way to Ado and Ikun; I also noticed the newly renovated schools as soon as I got to Ekiti state and nobody needed to tell me that these were recent developments as I was in this same ekiti not too long ago and the difference is glaring” He bought a land in Ikun before returning to the UK.
I have a cousin from Aiyetoro who lives in Lagos with his wife whose mum was from Ido Ekiti. They came to Ekiti recently and stayed with me in Ado. They also commented on the fantastic road network they saw driving all the way from Lagos. Now they are putting pressure on me
that they must buy a land urgently in Ado to develop and the Lady has recently given quit notices to the tenants in her mum’s home in Ido in order for her to turn the place to a country home where the family can be coming to relax very very soon.
I can go on and on about testimonials from Ekitis in Nigeria and in the Diaspora who are thankful for what JKF has done and is doing and will continue to do until 2018 by the grace of God.
Dr Fayemi also pioneered the The Budget Village Meetings as part of the budget preparation process. This initiative is a practical demonstration of the definition of democracy as the government of the people, by the people and for the people. This initiative that I refer to as ” Dr Fayemi Governance Model” is unique to our state as no other state in Nigeria embarks on this model.
Some states have town hall meetings, some on federal constituency basis. It is ONLY NOW in Ekiti that you see the Governor cris-crossing the nooks and crannies of his state, asking the people what they want government to do for them, (government by the people) and which have always been included in the yearly budgets (government of the people) and which projects have always been IMPLEMENTED (government for the people).
This is because JKF said I cannot stay in Ado and determines what the people in Ilafon for example want government to do for them. I will go to them and they can then tell me. I have advocated for the adoption of this Fayemi Model of Governance and Participatory Democracy to be practised at the Federal Level. If this is agreed, it will ensure even development of our Federation as it is currently the case in Ekiti today under JKF.
The Community Development Projects introduced by the Governor is also a first of its kind in Nigeria and a continuation of the participatory democracy referred to above. We are all witnesses to the enormity of the projects that have been implemented with this model and how satisfied people have been seeing these things for themselves. The unique feature as we know is the elimination of bottlenecks and delays, the communal ownership and the quick turnaround of the
JKF’s Word has been his bond: He has demonstrated his sincerity, his strength of character and above all his integrity since he became Governor by ensuring whatever he said he will do he has always done.
It is common knowledge therefore that once JKF pronounces something, it should be taken as done. Another reason why God is happy with him and has given him VICTORY ALREADY.
These myriads of achievements must have led His Excellency Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, JKF’s Worthy Predecessor, Leader and Mentor to endorse him for a second term in office as early as 2012.
My adopted Uncle, a great and constant source of inspiration to me, Uncle Femi Orebe said of JKF ” ….. That here cometh the man who will make all the difference to our lives in Ekiti. And why was I so sure?
It was his total person. Here is a young man, scion of a decent christian parentage, intellectually sound and supremely confident, humble yet so self – effacing you are bound to miss his stern
interior, a man of principles. It took me no time to know that this is a decent gentleman you can trust and one who, unlike the other wannabe governors, will never deceive our people.”
Uncle Orebe continues ” Governor Kayode Fayemi, as our people have come to roundly acknowledge, is simply a miracle worker. Extremely easy to work with, he is a glutton for work; so untiring sitting by his table, all you can do is pray God for His Continuing grace upon
such a dedicated public servant”
What more can one say?
JKF has worked TIRELESSLY and with all his might to uplift the standard of living of our people. He has consistently demonstrated his total and absolute commitment to Ekiti. The Honourable Chief Obafemi Awolowo must have had leaders like JKF in mind when he said “while some leaders are busy drinking away and cavorting with women of easy virtues, I am like a few others, are at our post, thinking about the country’s problems and finding solutions to them; only the DEEP can call to the DEEP.
As the campaign begins, we will strive for the mastery, we will go after ALL the votes of ALL the voters in our state. We are not taking anything for granted. We will be fully and be over prepared.
We will defend our votes and the forces of darkness who have seen the light JKF has brought to Ekiti and think to prefer darkness to light will be decisively and thoroughly trashed by the grace of God.
We will canvass for votes, we will mobilise for votes, we will work seriously and ensure a TOTAL victory for JKF. I SUBMIT THEREFORE THAT THE BEST INTEREST OF EKITI CAN ONLY BE SERVED, IF AND ONLY IF JKF REMAINS GOVERNOR.
This is the mission and we will ALL accomplish this together by the grace of God. Amen.
The lot of Nazi Germany when they invaded Russia will be the lot of these elements of darkness by the grace of God. The Nazi Germany had thought they could overpower Russia, however by a twist of fate, the former were confronted by terrible weather of over 30 degrees below freezing and they were thoroughlyand totally defeated.
We can only be afraid for the future, except we forget, ( And We will Not forget) how God has led us and given us victory in the past.
While it took over 3 years before the stolen mandate was returned to Our Governor, As God The Father lives, this time it will only take 3 months before JKF receives his 2nd term mandate; when he is declared as the one duly elected as Governor by INEC’s returning officer on Sunday 22 June 2014 and when he receives his certificate of return from INEC’S chairman in Abuja on Monday 23 June 2014 All by the Grace of God.
We will then shout HALLELUJAH, that The Lord has done great things for us and we are glad.
