The Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria recently honoured the former governor of Sokoto state Alhaji Dr. Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa in his Sokoto residence.
Speaking the president/chairman of the institute Sir Oladipo Abiodun Bailey said, the honor to the former governor was on merit going by his tremendous achievements recorded during his days as governor of the state, also as successful businessman of every taste.
He said the institute was established to train Nigerians on how to take loan as well as managing resources at hand. According to him, the country is blessed abundantly but due to the absence of good managers who has experiences of using the said resources in the proper way that can allow meaningful development, the country back to the drawing board.
Sir Bailey expressed optimism on the way a large crowd of people witness the occasion, which according to him is first of its kind in the history of the institution. He said the way the former governor continues to stay with his people is a clear manifestation of good leadership qualities in him, “For a politician of your caliber to inherit N20 million Naira from Military and after 8yrs you left N13billion Naira, is good sign of faithfulness”.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Bafarawa said, my investiture today is yet another social and professional milestone which I feel proud to achieve with every sense of modesty. From the name of the institution, one would wish to be given the opportunity of getting involved or even deeply associated and committed with its activities being that as a developing country, Nigeria needs every vehicle of socio economic development in order to be at par with other developing countries across the globe.
The fact that the institute is reaching out to people of meaningful status shows clearly that it top management staff who have the interest of the country at heart, are ready to showcase their managerial capability and skill so that the goals and objectives of the institute are properly and quickly propagated for the good of Nigeria and its people.
