Insecurity: Kaduna Bans Sale Of Fuel In Jerrycan
Major and Independent Marketers of Petroleum, (IPMAN), have jointly conceded to ban the supply of petrol in Jerri cans from fueling stations.
The measure was taken to suffocate the trend of banditry in Kaduna after realizing that selling in Jerrycans aids operational movements of ‘killer’ bandits in the state, IPMAN said.
The marketers said in a meeting on Monday with the ministry for local government and chieftaincy affairs chaired by the commissioner Alhaji Bello Dankande Gamji.
He said governor Nasir El-Rufai, was appealing for the cooperation of the marketers to help in curtailing banditry by placing a ban on sells of petrol in Jerrycans.
Chairman, Independent Marketers, Alhaji Yahaya Kamba said even though petroleum marketers are aware of the need for the product in remote areas particularly for dry season farmers, the unions have no option other than conceding “to this measure” in view of the increasing security challenge facing the state.
