Insecurity: Folarin Tackles Alao-Akala …Says Former Gov Responsible for Political Violence in Oyo State
By Sikiru Akinola
The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and former Senate leader, Oloye Teslim Folarin has said that the last time Oyo State was thrown into chaos was during the administration of former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, who is also the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, LP.
It would be recalled that the present administration shortly after its emergence, restored peace and order by proscribing the activities of the NURTW. The ban was lifted after many months.
Oloye Folarin was reacting to his pictures being circulated on social media, describing it as “a desperate attempt to cast aspersions on my personality”. He added that” It is clearly from disgruntled politicians who refuse to accept my emergence as the PDP Guber candidate for the 2015 elections”.
The pictures being circulated included that of when he was locked in a black maria when he was implicated in the murder of the former chairman of the NURTW, late Lateef Salako Eleweomo.
Writing on his facebook timeline, Oloye Teslim Folarin explained that he was “actually proud of the pictures and the event which brought about the pictures”.
Describing those pictures as constant reminders of the injustice dealt to him by “the Alao Akala government when I stood up against bad governance, violence across Oyo state and corruption, he added that he would stand against corruption and bad governance as represented by the Akala government if he is opportuned again.
Folarin continued: “However, I wish to state that other than the death of the former NURTW Chairman, Eleweomo, which the Alao Akala government used to incarcerate me without a shred of evidence and charge, there were other killings including those of innocent souls in Iwo Road and Olomi in 2010. At the time, the Chief Security Officer of the State was Alao Akala and he chaired the State’s security council meeting. He himself said “Teslim Folarin did not kill Eleweomo” on national radio (Splash FM).
“With such statement, the question for Alao Akala as the CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER of the State remains, who did kill Eleweomo?
“Who killed those innocent souls in Iwo Road?
“Who killed another NURTW officer called Bruno.
“Who killed those innocent citizens during the Olomi battle in 2010
“Why was no one ever charged or prosecuted for these and many other killings under Akala?”
He, therefore, added that “Oyo State cannot afford another 4 years of killing, violence and brutality which was the trademark of the Akala govt?”
Saying that Alao-Akala has no moral justification to seek election, he said that “Oyo citizens would decide whether Alao Akala even has the morale right to stand again for election, with so many unresolved murders under his watch”.
Folarin also encouraged his “detractors to continue posting such pictures” saying that they serve as reminders “of the price I paid for daring to stand up against the government of the day, in the interest of Oyo state. I thank them for their efforts”.
