INEC Fixes December 5 For Supplementary Election In Kogi State
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has fixed December 5 for the conduct of the supplementary election in Kogi State.
This was contained in a public notice made available by the commission on Tuesday.
The commission had on November 22 declared the result of the Kogi election inconclusive even though the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu, who is now late, scored more votes than its major challenger in the Peoples Democraic Party (PDP), Idris Wasa, because it says the number of invalid votes is higher than the vote.
The public notice signed by the secretary to the commission, Augusta Ogakwu, said the the supplementary election will be conducted in the 91 affected polling units as announced by the returning officer.
The commission also acknowledged that the APC has notified her of the death if the candidate and that the APC will be allowed to filled the vacancy of his death by nominating another candidate.
“Accordingly, notice is hereby given to all the 22 political parties participating in the Kogi governorship election that supplementary election in the 91 affected polling units shall hold on 5th December, 2015”, the commission said.
