Improved Security: We Welcomed More Fun Seekers This Year Than Previous Years – Maitama Park Manager, Shettima
The manager of Maitama Amusement park, one of the foremost parks in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Abdullahi Shettima has attributed the high patronage at the park to the improved situation of security in the nation’s capital.
Speaking on Peoples Daily newspaper, Mallam Shettima said although they expected more crowd than was witnessed during this festive season, the number of fun seekers recorded is a huge improvement from what were seen in previous years especially considering that the we are just coming out of serious security challenges faced in the past.
“Some people are complaining that it takes time time to get fuel before coming to the park. So that has affected the turn out of the fun-seekers.”
He also attributed the low turnout to the economic challenges in the country as another reason.
“Also the economic challenges; people do not have enough money. There is no enough money in circulation. I think these are reasons for the low turnout.”
“Nevertheless, this year is better than the last one because people are coming out now after realizing that the security situation has been tackled by the government in the Federal Capital,” he said.
Shettima however expressed hope that people will witness positive change in 2018.
Nigeria will be better next year. The government is trying to put a lot of things in track. Now, we have started seeing some level of confidence in terms of security.”
“People have started getting use to the situation of things. I hope that we will have a better Nigeria in 2018,” Shettima said.
