Importer Of 661 Pieces Of Pump-action Rifles, Two Others Arrested
The importer of the 49 boxes containing 661 pieces of pump action rifles has been arrested alongside the seizure of the consignment.
Briefing newsmen on Monday, the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Colonel Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd) gave the name of the importer as Mr. Oscan Okafor, who is 51 year old.
Ali also said 56 year old Mahmud Hassan who is the clearing agent for the pump-actions and 28 yer old Sadique Mustapha, accompanying the consignment to its destination were also arrested.
According to him, investigations to determine any other person that may be involved in the importation of the consignment which he said is under absolute prohibition has commenced.
“Investigation has already commenced and I have directed that the drag net should be wide enough to fish out all persons involved in the importation and clearing of the consignment. Already, the Officers involved in the clearance of this container are with the Comptroller FOU Zone ‘A’ Ikeja.”
