Impeachment: You Are Gladiators of Illegality, Group Tell Mimiko, ODHA

A socio-political pressure group, Ondo Renaissance Group (ORG) has condemned without any reservation, the impeachment of Ondo State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Alli Olanusi by the state House of Assembly.
The group lampooned the state Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, describing the act as desperate antics of a despot and a weak legislature suffering from poverty both physical and of the mind.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Lateef Raji, the group queried why Olanusi would be impeached while on a trip to overseas without an opportunity to defend himself before the panel constituted by the State Chief Judge to investigate him.
“Mimiko and his mentally and intellectually weak legislators should remember the supreme court verdict of Atiku vs FG and INEC in 2007, which confirmed the supremacy of the Freedom of Association as entrenched by section 32 of 1999 Constitution of Nigeria as amended.
“Without any fear of contradiction, we want to declare that Olanusi was hurriedly booted out of office by Mimiko and his hatchet men in the State House of Assembly because he chose to exercise one of his Fundamental Human Rights by defecting from the drowned People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the Progressives Congress (APC), the group averred.
The group advised the impeached Olanusi to explore every constitutional means to ensure that the gladiators of illegality in Ondo State are put to shame.
ORG also reminded Mimiko that power is transient, warning that what goes around, will definitely come around.
